FCwave™ is a modular marine system, scalable up to MW vessel specifications. It’s designed to provide zero-emission power to a broad range of vessels and is extensively tested and certified by DNV, Lloyd’s Register and ABS for operation in marine environments.
The FCwave™ is a powerful fuel cell module that is scalable from 200kW to 1.2 MW applications. The module leverages more than 8 generations of product development and heavy-duty module experience in demanding applications and climates. This module provides a flexible, industrial grade all-in-one fuel cell power solution that is low in total lifecycle cost and easily scalable to power and space requirements.

Absolutely! Several of our products are designed as scalable modules that can be combined as multiple units to deliver more power. The FCmove-XD is an example of a modular design that can be scaled from 120kW to 360kW, with a single interface.
Fuel cells are highly efficient for power generation and can operate on various fuels, including hydrogen, natural gas, ammonia, and methane. At Ballard, we prefer to use low-carbon hydrogen for true zero-emissions solutions.
Like any type of engine, the lifetime depends on its usage and environment. Typically, our fuel cell modules last up to 25,000 hours of operation. Maintenance is limited to changing filters, replacing sensors, coolant pumps, and water separators. With only four moving parts, a fuel cell requires significantly less maintenance than an internal combustion engine.
